Ignore your Sat Nav, you won't regret it!

We send all our guests the directions below, but many can not resist their SatNavs default instructions to come off the A38 for Torbay & Paignton. The Torbay route is mainly dual carriage ways & surburban new building developments & it will add a £6 ferry crossing to your final approach to Dartmouth. Many guests then struggle approaching us from the ferry in Dartmouth, taking very narrow streets to get to Fairview Road. So if you can resist the voice of your SatNav & trust us on this..... if you stay on the A38 & exit for Totnes at Dartington there are so many lovely things you can see & do en route & save the £6 you would have spent on the ferry, for a coffee. Just a few ideas listed below with links. All this & you have not even arrived! This approach to Dartmouth will not bring you on any narrow streets.

A few things to see en route, via Totnes route!Apologies to Torbay Tourism for this bi pass!

Ashburton One of our favorite places for a pit stop, running next to A38 & just before you reach the Dartington, Totnes, Buckfastleigh exit, on the edge of Dartmoor National park, & now with the fantastic foody stop Rust & The Wolf

Buckfastleigh

You can visit The Abbey, Take the Steam Train or visit the Otter & Butterfly Sanctuary

Totnes High St/Market

this town has an eccentric reputation Market days in Totnes are Tuesdays & Fridays. So much to do, fantastic high street full of independent shops & great cafes.

Lifestyle store, barn & cafe. Harbertenford, on your left as you drive to Dartmouth from Totnes.
